12. Hortithérapie sensorielle
A journey through four gardens dedicated to well-being, “sauna garden”, “vegetable garden”, “massage garden”, “scented garden”, this “sensorial horticultural therapy” space offers a complete experience for the senses, designed to give visitors back their equilibrium and the harmony of their soul and body. Aromatic plants, subtle fragrances, elixirs and essential oils, sensual textures, this garden wishes to make them aware of the curative properties of plants and of their soothing effect.
DESIGNERS
Francesca Vacirca was born in Venice (Italy) in 1979. After high school she graduated in English and German Literature at the University of Padua in Italy in 2003 with a dissertation about the reception of Laurence Sterne in Germany which she wrote in London. Due to her great passion of plants and of landscape design she decided to stay in London after completing her Italian studies and enrolled in the BA(Hons) Landscape Architecture at the University of Greenwich in 2004. She achieved her BA degree with distinction in 2007 with a masterplan proposal for the requalification of a former quarry in Hastings. Since 2006 she has been working for practices of landscape and garden design in London: in she worked on a Gold medalist Show Garden of the Chelsea Flower Show in 2007 and was involved in the regeneration masterplan of the riverfront of Rochester. In 2009 she enrolled in the Master Degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Greenwich and completed her studies in the same year with distinction with a regeneration masterplan for the Docklands in London. Since 2008 she has collaborated with a practice specialized in the design of educational landscapes for schools and in healing gardens for hospitals and care homes.
Daniela Tonegatti has worked internationally for twenty years as a Geologist. Her experience in different aspects of the earth science and her passion for architecture and design culminate in a Master in Landscape Architecture obtained at the University of Greenwich, London. Now she works in Italy on urban design projects and private and public parks and gardens creating contemporary spaces which integrate the natural world with the built environment.
