20. La petite serre
The Small Greenhouse
After the Jardin de la Serre (Greenhouse Garden) entrusted to Patrick Nadeau at the entrance to the farmyard and the collection of cacti presented in the Serre extraordinaire (Extraordinary Greenhouse), the Petite Serre (Little Greenhouse) is the third area permanently devoted to tropical plants at the Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire.
Banana trees, bird-of-paradise flowers and palms look down on a duo of ornate chairs recovered from an earlier edition of the Garden Festival, an invitation to travel and dream that you simply can’t refuse. The Petite Serre is a brand new configuration, demonstrating the permanent adaptation of plant life (and, by extension, of gardeners) to new contexts. Exuberant plants make their way out of the greenhouse’s confines and colonise the pathway around it. An interior garden reaching towards the light, the Petite Serre provides visitors with a bewitching new experience in the heart of the International Garden Festival.
Because at Chaumont-sur-Loire, everything always has to be reinvented!
