BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Born in Valdepeñas in the province of Ciudad Real (Spain) in 1953, Antonio Crespo Foix graduated in fine arts, speciality sculpture, from the University of Valencia’s San Carlos Faculty. He developed a unique approach to sculpture very early on, which he practised in parallel with a post as a drawing teacher at the Bernardo de Balbuena secondary school in Valdepeñas, which he held until 2014. Since the late 1990s, his work has been regularly presented in solo and collective exhibitions in Spanish institutions and galleries, including in Madrid, Toledo, Cáceres, Saragossa and Pamplona, as well as at such international fairs as ARCO Madrid. His work has been the subject of numerous critical texts by such authors as Juan Manuel Bonet, Fernando Huici and Marcos Ricardo Barnatán, who highlight the coherence and uniqueness of a body of work devoted to lightness, immateriality and duration.
Promoted by the Michel Soskine Gallery since the early 2000s, his work is currently represented by the Claude Bernard Gallery in Paris.
