The Chaumont-sur-Loire exhibit is entitled “Wintertime”.
The theme of winter and its “muted colours” is tackled by the artist with the same vision and commitment he extends to cliffs, another of Stéphane Erouane Dumas’ favourite subjects.
Here too, verticality is the order of the day, “frontality” becomes vegetable.

A variation around reflections on water, iced-over lakes, great forests of birch trees and branches frozen by frost or petrified by lichens, this series was born of travels in Northern Europe, in Norway, Scotland and Iceland.

Dilated spaces, vegetable orchestrations undulate before our eyes to the cold colours of winter. “…Stéphane Erouane Dumas’ paintings are the product of an acute awareness of space.
