03. Pollinators city
La ville des pollinisateurs
published at 29/01/2024
Imagine that nature and ecosystems had evolved differently... And if humans were not the dominant species? And if our friendly pollinators had evolved to create environmental cities that resemble today’s human cities? And if our places and spaces were the other way round so that we were observing our friends from outside the Pollinators' City? With a nod to the New York skyline and layout of Central Park, this more sustainable world can be observed from a fresh and relaxing grove. In an urban environment of bee towers, bird houses, butterfly shelters and bat buildings surrounded by magnificent revitalising and nourishing plants, this town is literally buzzing day and night.
Just picture this... Worker bees hard at work since dawn, gathering food reserves and looking after their queen, Mrs Butterfly emerging from her refuge, the birds practising their scales and the bats exhausted after a night of swooping and whirling for miles and miles! It is a very active town, this town of birds, bees, butterflies and bats. We can learn a lot from their organisation and their resilience.
