01. Le jardin de sous-bois
Located below the main visitors’ path, hidden away in its bushy bower, the garden reveals itself as you descend the steps leading to it. Inspired by English-style gardens, it stands out for its exuberant vegetation, composed of large-leafed green foliage, trees and bushes with bright coloured bark, in marked contrast to the clear lines of the pond that runs its length. White flowers greet springtime visitors, while autumn sees the garden ablaze with glowing red foliage. The brick paving that surrounds the pond is in perfect harmony with the rust-coloured corten-steel stairway set delicately atop the embankment’s vegetation, providing a happy chromatic contrast with its greenery. Visitors can pause awhile half way down and contemplate this woodland scene and the view of the Vallon des Brumes (Valley of Mists) beyond.
