Jean-Baptiste Huynh è nato a Châteauroux nel 1966 di madre francese e di padre vietnamita. Autodidatta, impara le tecniche fotografiche dell’illuminazione e dello sviluppo delle fotografie. Sviluppa quindi una scrittura fotografica personale e sobria che adopera per realizzare ritratti, nudi e nature morte o più recentemente le serie Specchi, Fuoco e Crepuscolo.
Le sue ricerche sono principalmente incentrate sullo sguardo, la luce, l’atemporalità e la relazione con l’infinito.
Le sue opere fotografiche si materializzano nelle sue esposizioni, le loro scenografie e i suoi libri che fanno parte integrante dei suoi progetti e sono un’espressione compiuta della sua arte fotografica. È l’autore di nove libri dedicati al ritratto. Laureato della Villa Medici fuori le mura, Jean-Baptiste Huynh espone le proprie opere in varie gallerie e musei in tutto il mondo.
